A Dog's Day In Kirkland

Friday

  • Check into the pet-friendly waterfront Woodmark Hotel (1200 Carillon Point, 425.822.3700).
  • Make reservations to dine at Milagro Cantina (148 Lake Street South, 425.952.6270) or one of the restaurants on Park Lane. If outdoor dining is an option, allow Fido to relax nearby (outside the fence) as you dine and people watch.
  • Enjoy the sunset at Marina Park and share a cone from Ben & Jerry's with your favorite friend (176 Lake Street South, 425.576.1609) or Sirena Gelato (109 Park Lane, 425.739.9339). Stop by The Grape Choice (9 Lake Shore Plaza, 425.827.7551) for a glass of wine and meet their two golden retrievers, Brix and Beaune.

Saturday

  • Take a morning walk (1.5 miles each way) from the Woodmark Hotel into town and visit Boo Boo Barkery & Boutique (115 Lake Street South, 425.822.0292) for tasty treats or fashionable gear for your pet.
  • Grab a coffee at Zoka Coffee (129 Central Way, 425.284.1830), stop by Flatstick Pub (15 Lake Street South 206.755.1326) for a round of mini-golf and do the sculpture walk on your return trip to the Woodmark Hotel.
  • Take your pooch over to Bridle Trails State Park (116th Avenue NE & NE 53rd Street) for a walk through forested trails where you are likely to spot a person or two on horseback.
  • If visiting in the fall, take the Woodmark’s cruise across the lake and catch a UW Husky DAWG’s football game (Woodmark can assist with finding pet-sitting).

OR

  • If visiting during July attend Kirkland Uncorked and have Fido win the City Dog modeling contest while you sip exceptional Washington wines.
  • Visit Marymoor Park in neighboring Redmond, which hosts a forty-acre off-leash dog park that has been dubbed “Doggy Disneyland.”
  • Drop by Dooley's Doghouse, (1421 Market Street, 425.889.2200), to get your pup a present.
  • Grab dinner at the Beach House Bar & Grill (6023 Lake Washington Blvd NE, 425.968.5587) where you can enjoy outdoor lakeside dining, with your dog waiting nearby. Watch the paddle boarders on the lake, or the volleyball players at Houghton Beach Park as the sun sets over the lake.

 Sunday

  • Catch breakfast at the Beach Café at the Woodmark Hotel.
  • Walk into town and explore the many dog-friendly shops along Park Lane.
  • Extend your walk to Heritage Park, Waverly Way, where you’ll meet other pet lovers, take in relaxing waterfront vistas or perhaps throw a Frisbee.
