Drink The Sea is the result of a remarkable international collaboration that spans continents, cultures, and musical traditions. What began in 2022 as an informal jam session between Alain and Barrett in Olympia, Washington, evolved into a global creative journey that took the musicians from England and Iceland to Brazil, Chile, California's Joshua Tree, and back again.

Drink The Sea brings together an extraordinary lineup of internationally acclaimed musicians, including Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season), Alain Johannes (Eleven, Queens of the Stone Age), Duke Garwood (Mark Lanegan Band), and percussionist Lisette Garcia. Together, they combine decades of experience spanning alternative rock, world music, folk, blues, and experimental sounds into a project unlike anything else on today's music scene.

The band's two debut albums were quite literally recorded around the world. Songs were written and tracked in Reykjavik, São Paulo, Santiago, Joshua Tree, and Olympia before being mixed in Barcelona, creating a musical project unlike any other.

Produced and mixed by Barrett and Alain, Drink The Sea blends the foundation of guitar, bass, and drums with a rich tapestry of global influences. Their music shimmers with the sounds of Arabic oud, Indian sitar, Indonesian gamelan, vibraphone, marimba, kalimba, Brazilian surdo, frame drums, and other world percussion instruments, creating a sound that is both expansive and deeply immersive.

Named after a lyric written by Duke, Drink The Sea brings together decades of songwriting, arranging, and performing experience into a musical experience that transcends borders and genres.
