Painterly Monotype
April 26, 2026 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Saturdays, April 11 - May 30, 2026 (8 sessions)
Join artist and educator William Cook for a hands-on journey into the expressive world of painterly monotype printmaking. Over four immersive sessions, we’ll learn to build layers of ink and explore mark making that will result in a one-of-a-kind monotype.
This class is ideal for artists with some previous experience either in painting, printmaking or both, although newcomers are welcome too. Using printmaking inks and a variety of tools, you'll learn how to build both transparent and opaque layers, manipulate texture, and embrace the unexpected with a focus on values, composition, and expressive mark making. Each week introduces new techniques building on previous lessons and encouraging discussion and critique of our work.
Whether you're looking to loosen up your painting practice, dive into printmaking for the first time, try a new kind of printmaking, or simply spend your time surrounded by creativity, this series offers a supportive space to explore, create, and connect.
Materials provided except for one or two 8”x 10” photocopied photos you will use for reference material.
