Tea Time - Intermediate Ceramics
April 2, 2026 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Thursdays, April 2 - June 4, 2026 (10 sessions)
This course is designed for those who have a solid foundation in pottery and are looking to advance their skills and knowledge.
During this course, we will dive deeply into the vessels for preparing and serving tea. Familiar forms like teapots and cups and some more particular cultural forms like the original steeping vessel, the “gaiwan”.
Demonstrations and discussions this quarter will include sampling different teas and uncovering the nuances of form for proper flow and handling.
Instructor Jonathan Steele has studied tea and vessels for making it for the last ten years and loves to share this knowledge and passion for making vessels that perform beautifully. Class structure will include demonstrations every week and allow time to work independently on projects as well as one on one with your instructor.
