Woodinville Sports Club was established in 2018, carrying the torch of the storied Gold Creek Tennis & Sports Club that was started in 1976.
Gold Creek was a three-generation family owned and run club that provided one of the most unique activity, sports, and event destinations in the Pacific Northwest. There was never a lack of things to do at Gold Creek—beyond the expected facilities, it had an ice skating rink, equestrian competitions, and even children’s camps focused on learning about Washington history.
The property was originally home to Gold Creek Park in the 1960s, an amusement park that had many attractions including a scaled-down replica of the Space Needle and a large dome that housed the beloved ice skating rink. After its time as a park, Gold Creek also hosted the Seattle Pop Festival in 1969 which included legendary artists like Led Zeppelin and The Doors – many believe that Woodstock would have never happened without this Festival setting the stage for that historic event.
In 1976, the Dahl family took over and renovated the property to start the Tennis & Sports Club. An indoor tennis facility was added in 1978, then a golf range in 1991, and much more. But then in 2018, when the Dahl family decided to move on, Gold Creek as a sports club and its unique dome/tennis facilities were at risk of being repurposed. A few local technology entrepreneurs and tennis/fitness enthusiasts saw the opportunity to preserve the club, keep indoor tennis facilities available on the Eastside, and inject the type of energy and resources that could reinvigorate the place.
The new ownership group rebranded to Woodinville Sports Club in 2018. All tennis courts were resurfaced and new LED lighting was added to improve playability. The fitness areas were updated with all-new cardio and strength equipment, in addition to new functional training areas powered by Aktiv. We also added Toptracer ball-tracking technology to our covered range, with Fusion Golf Academy bringing us new grass tees and a short-game area in Spring 2020. Renovations continue with new updates to our tennis building and the addition of pickleball to our iconic dome.
And with that, the WSC journey has begun. The new ownership and management are super excited to be a part of this new chapter in the fascinating story of this property since the 1960s. We are just at the tip of the iceberg of what this property and facility can do to service the local community and remain a unique neighborhood facility. Our goal is to build a destination for the entire family, with a unique combination of activities that can only be achieved with a property like WSC. We’re proud to carry on the tradition and look forward to seeing you at the club!
