Eastside Honoring Juneteenth
June 13, 2026 12:00 PM – 4:00 PM
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, join friends, neighbors, and community leaders at Juanita High School for the 7th Annual "Eastside Honoring Juneteenth" - a free, family-friendly event celebrating Black excellence, cultural pride, and liberation.
The Juneteenth national holiday takes place on June 19th. It marks the date in 1865 when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, were informed of their freedom—two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a day to celebrate the strength, achievements, and ongoing contributions of African Americans.
This year's event features Mr. Delbert Richardson's "Unspoken Truths" exhibit, the Gansango Dance Group, DJ AmberLove, storytelling, soul line dancing, Black businesses, artists, and nonprofits.
East King County Black graduates will be honored at the event with a special acknowledgement.
