Persia is an ancient region of southwestern Asia. In modern times, the contemporary nation of Iran was formed and occupied the center of the Persian empire. There is a strong and growing Persian culture in Kirkland, rooted in the wonderful Iranian community here. Kirkland is home to the only Nowruz Festival in Washington state: an early spring celebration of renewal shared by so many cultures in different manifestations around the world. Kirkland is fortunate to be home to several Persian restaurants. Persian food is incredibly flavorful. Known for its sweet, sour, floral and fruity notes, you won't see dishes that pile on many spices at once, or rely on extreme flavors. It's all about delicacy and balance.
